Abstract

Integration is a multidimensional and dynamic process involving the active participation of migrants in the social, economic, cultural, and political spheres of the host society, based on mutual interaction. This study aims to examine graduate theses focusing on the integration of refugees in Türkiye using a bibliometric approach. These theses provide valuable data for analyzing academic production, methodological tendencies, and theoretical frameworks related to integration. The study seeks to uncover the current state of this academic field and identify areas for future development. The research was conducted within the scope of a descriptive survey model based on a quantitative methodology. Data were analyzed through bibliometric techniques. Theses that were openly accessible in the National Thesis Center of the Council of Higher Education were systematically reviewed using predetermined keywords and inclusion criteria. A total of 36 theses were selected for analysis. Data were collected through a thesis review form developed by the researcher, and the analysis was carried out using Jamovi, Microsoft Excel, and Maxqda software. The findings show that the majority of the theses were authored by Turkish nationals (77.8%) and were written at the master’s level (77.8%). Qualitative research design was the most frequently adopted methodology (58.3%). Most of the theses were completed within Institutes of Social Sciences (69.4%) and in the field of Sociology (36.1%). A notable increase in thesis production was observed between 2019 and 2022. Frequently used keywords included “Türkiye,” “migration,” “Syrian,” and “integration”. This study reveals that graduate-level research on refugee integration in Türkiye predominantly employs qualitative approaches and is largely situated within the social sciences. By identifying current academic trends, the study provides a foundation for guiding future research in this area.
