Abstract

With the development of modern technology, unmanned aerial vehicles have begun to be used in different areas around the world. The use of UAV as an important platform especially in photogrammetric studies has been rapidly spreading in our country considering the advantages of speed, time and cost. The studies made with UAV presented as an alternative to traditional methods; high temporal and spatial resolution of data production and at the same time with lower cost data production is achieved. The aim of this study is cost analysis of photogrammetric data generation with the modern UAV technology of today. For this purpose, study area which was overall size 78.3 hectares at Organized Industrial Site in Baspınar neighbourhood in Sehitkamil district in Gaziantep province was tested. In this study area, the aerial photographs obtained by the UAV were processed to produce three dimensional models, orthophoto and digital surface models. In addition, cost analysis was performed by comparing different items such as hardware, software and costs analysis of UAV technology and traditional methods. As a result, it has been observed that high accuracy, fast data acquisition, high temporal resolution with the possibility of repetitive measurement, and low cost have the advantages in photogrammetric data production with UAV.
