Abstract

This article presents a review of Turkish translation of Poetry from The Future written by a Croatian philosopher, Srećko Horvat, and I evaluate this book within the frame concerning the problem of the future in philosophy. To deepen this problem, I do benefit from Walter Benjamin’s ‘history’, Theodor W. Adorno’s ‘working through the past’ (Aufarbeitung der Vergangenheit), and Michel Foucault’s ‘ontology of the present.’ Thus the question of the future posed by our age reaches out both to the problem of working through the past and to problematizing our way of reading the present. Technology and data processing placed at the center of Horvat’s criticisms provides us not only the problem of working through the present, namely ‘the age of future’ but also possible and impending reflections to go beyond it.
