Abstract
Aim: This study aimed to examine the nutritional habits of adolescent athletes participating in different sports and to reveal the differences in nutritional behaviors according to sports branches and their relationships with demographic characteristics. Methods: The study, conducted in Bitlis province, included 230 volunteer athletes (168 women and 62 men) actively participating in different sports branches and holding licenses. Data were collected using two questionnaires: the "Personal Information Form" and the "Adolescent Nutritional Habits Scale". Data were analyzed using the SPSS statistical program. Descriptive statistics, independent samples t-tests, one-way ANOVA, and Post-Hoc Tukey tests were applied, and the statistical significance level was set at p<0.05. Results: The research findings revealed a statistically significant difference between the income level of athletes and their nutritional habits (p<0.05), while no statistically significant difference was observed between nutritional habits and the variables of gender, age, education level, place of residence, weekly training days and hours, years in sports, body weight, height, and parental education level (p>0.05). Conclusion: This indicates that athletes generally have a moderate level of nutritional knowledge, and even if they possess basic nutritional knowledge, they struggle to fully integrate this knowledge into their practices. Developing healthy eating habits at an early age will help protect athletes' athletic performance and overall health.
