Abstract

This study examined whether tenure moderates the relationships between expatriate adjustment, resistance to change, and job satisfaction among Turkish expatriates working at a newly established resort in the Maldives. Using an exploratory, quantitative, correlational, cross-sectional design, data were collected from 54 employees through census sampling. After excluding two respondents who failed the control question, analyses were conducted on 52 valid questionnaires. Correlation, linear regression, and bootstrap-based moderation analyses were performed. The positive relationship between expatriate adjustment and job satisfaction and the negative relationship between resistance to change and job satisfaction were nonsignificant; therefore, the hypotheses were unsupported. However, tenure significantly moderated both relationships. BCa bootstrap simple-effect analyses showed that among employees with less than one year of tenure, expatriate adjustment was positively and resistance to change negatively associated with job satisfaction. Among employees with at least one year of tenure, resistance to change was positively associated with overall job satisfaction.
