Abstract

Cardiovascular diseases are among the most common causes of death worldwide today and significantly affect individuals' quality of life. Electrocardiography (ECG) is a widely used and reliable biosignal monitoring method for the diagnosis and follow-up of these diseases. Traditional ECG systems typically rely on adhesive gel electrodes, which can cause skin irritation, discomfort, and limited reusability during prolonged use. In this context, textile-based electrodes have emerged as an alternative solution in ECG systems due to their advantages such as flexibility, washability, and wearability. One of the critical factors influencing the conductivity of electrodes that can be integrated into textile surfaces or developed using conductive threads is the geometry of the stitch pattern. In this study, the electrical performances of transmission lines produced in five different stitch patterns using two types of conductive threads were measured with a GW Instek LCR-816 benchtop LCR meter. The measurements were carried out at a fixed frequency (2 kHz), and the resistance (R) and quality (Q) values resulting from different stitch and thread combinations were analyzed. The analysis results revealed the optimal stitch type/pattern and conductive thread combination, particularly suitable for use in wearable ECG systems.
