Abstract

In this study, the objective is to evaluate 31 jacquard woven sheer curtain fabrics (N-01 to N-31), designed for curtain use, based on predetermined criteria through the integration of CRITIC and TOPSIS methods, which are among the Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) techniques. The criterion weights were determined using the CRITIC method, while the overall scores of the 31 samples were calculated via the TOPSIS method, which emphasizes a balanced performance across all criteria rather than high performance in only specific ones. A decision matrix was constructed using four criteria: light transmittance, production time, cost, and weight per square meter. The CRITIC method yielded the following criterion weights in descending order: weight per square meter (0.282), production time (0.281), light transmittance (0.238), and cost (0.198). According to the TOPSIS results, the top three most preferable fabric samples, based on their total scores, were identified as N-06, N-31, and N-28. This research exemplifies how MCDM methods—although often overlooked in manual processes due to their requirements for detailed data collection, weighting, and modeling—can be effectively employed in the textile domain for product selection processes. It provides a quantitative and systematic evaluation model for the selection of jacquard sheer curtain fabrics.
