Abstract

Objective: This study aims to examine middle school students' life satisfaction, self-efficacy, and attitudes towards physical activity in relation to academic achievement level and participation in school teams; and to identify factors predicting life satisfaction. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was designed using a correlational survey model, a quantitative research methodology. The study was conducted with 237 middle school students. Data were collected using a Socio-Demographic Information Form, the Self-Efficacy Scale for Children, the Attitudes Toward Physical Activity Scale, and the Life Satisfaction Scale Adapted for Children. Independent samples t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and multiple linear regression analyses were performed on the data. Results: The multiple regression analysis, with self-efficacy and physical activity attitude as independent variables and life satisfaction as the dependent variable, yielded a statistically significant model explaining 17% of the variance in life satisfaction (R^2=,174, Adjusted R^2=,167). The effect size was calculated as Cohen’s f^2=.21, indicating a moderate effect size. The findings demonstrate that self-efficacy is a strong and significant positive predictor of life satisfaction (β=,388,p<,001). Conversely, attitude toward physical activity did not significantly predict life satisfaction (β=-,085,p=,166). Conclusion: Among middle school students, self-efficacy is positively correlated with life satisfaction and serves as the strongest predictor of life satisfaction among the variables examined. These findings highlight that school-based intervention programs designed to enhance self-efficacy perceptions play a pivotal role in promoting the psychological well-being of adolescent students.
