Abstract

This research examines the mediating role of digital transformation in the effect of manufacturing employees' perceptions of digital leadership on innovative work behaviour, and the moderating role of technophobia in the effect of digital leadership on digital transformation. Data for the research were collected via a survey from 606 employees of industrial firms in Istanbul. The data obtained were analysed using structural equation modelling and Process Macro. The analysis revealed that digital leadership has a significant impact on both digital transformation and innovative work behaviour. It was also found that digital transformation has a significant impact on innovative work behaviour. Furthermore, it was determined that digital transformation plays a mediating role in the effect of digital leadership on innovative work behaviour. It was also found that technophobia plays a moderating role in the effect of digital leadership on digital transformation. This study contributes to the literature by examining the impact of leadership approaches on innovative work behaviour in digital transformation processes, and in particular, by highlighting the potential hindering role of technophobia in these processes.
