Abstract

This study explores the political and aesthetic dimensions of architecture, incorporating Rancière’s concepts of the “aesthetic regime” and “common life” into architectural debates. Conventional architectural practices often overlook the temporal aspect of space, treating it as a static object. By examining the time-space relationships during the survey and restoration of an abandoned house in Üsküdar, this study introduces the concept of "trace-image," which demonstrates how architecture can be both spatial and temporal. The "trace-image" reveals hidden relationships and ofers a new lens for understanding space as a dynamic, evolving process shaped by time and interaction. This temporal dimension opens the door for ethical and political discussions in architecture, challenging traditional approaches and proposing alternative design methods that consider space as a process rather than a fixed entity.
