Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between financial literacy and individual investment decisions from a global literature perspective using bibliometric methods. The analysis is based on publications retrieved from the Scopus database covering the period from 2007 to 2025 and was conducted using the Bibliometrix/Biblioshiny packages in RStudio. A total of 340 academic publications, 250 different sources, and 17,946 references were included in the analysis. The bibliometric assessment provides a comprehensive overview of the annual scientific production, the most influential sources and authors, keyword co-occurrence networks, conceptual structures, and the developmental trends of the literature from a life cycle perspective. The findings indicate that the literature has experienced an annual growth rate of 21.74%, with research primarily focusing on financial literacy, investment decisions, and behavioral finance. The life cycle analysis further reveals that the research field has reached the maturity stage and, as of 2025, demonstrates a high level of saturation in the global literature. Overall, the findings provide a comprehensive overview of the scientific development in the field of financial literacy and investment decisions while offering valuable insights into emerging trends, research gaps, and potential directions for future studies.

Özet

Bu çalışmanın amacı, finansal okuryazarlık ile bireysel yatırım kararları arasındaki ilişkiyi küresel literatür perspektifinde bibliyometrik yöntemle incelemektir. Araştırmada, Scopus veri tabanlarından elde edilen ve 2007–2025 dönemini kapsayan yayınlar RStudio programı ile Bibliometrix/Biblioshiny paketleri kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Çalışma kapsamında toplam 340 akademik yayın, 250 farklı kaynak ve 17.946 referans değerlendirilmiştir. Bibliyometrik analizler; yıllık bilimsel üretim, en etkili kaynaklar, yazarlar, anahtar kelime ağları ve kavramsal yapıların yanı sıra literatürün yaşam döngüsü perspektifinde gelişim eğilimlerini ortaya koymaktadır. Bulgular, ilgili literatürün yıllık %21,74 büyüme oranına sahip olduğunu ve araştırmaların ağırlıklı olarak finansal okuryazarlık, yatırım kararları ve davranışsal finans ekseninde yoğunlaştığını göstermektedir. Yaşam döngüsü analizi, araştırma alanının olgunluk evresine ulaştığını ve 2025 yılı itibarıyla küresel literatürün yüksek düzeyde doygunluk gösterdiğini ortaya koymaktadır. Elde edilen bulgular, finansal okuryazarlık ve yatırım kararları alanındaki bilimsel gelişimin kapsamlı bir görünümünü sunarken, gelecekte yürütülecek araştırmalar için eğilimleri, bilgi boşluklarını ve potansiyel araştırma yönelimlerini belirleme açısından önemli katkılar sağlamaktadır.
