Abstract

Disasters profoundly affect the infrastructure and health systems of communities, leading to disruptions in access to sexual and reproductive health services. These disruptions increase the health risks of vulnerable groups such as women, children and individuals of reproductive age, and complicate the delivery of essential services such as pregnancy follow-up, maternity care, combating sexual violence and infection control. In complex and dynamic emergency environments caused by disasters, effective, rapid and uninterrupted delivery of health services is of critical importance. In this context, the lean management approach stands out as a powerful tool to increase the resilience of post-disaster healthcare services by eliminating unnecessary processes, optimizing resources and ensuring patient-focused service flows. Simplification of processes and efficient use of resources contribute to ensuring the continuity of sexual and reproductive health services in the post-disaster period. In this way, the workload of healthcare staff can be balanced while responding quickly and effectively to the needs of patients. Moreover, lean management techniques also serve to reduce social vulnerability by increasing the organizational flexibility of health institutions in the process of strengthening disaster preparedness and response capacity. In conclusion, the lean approach is a critical strategic tool for preventing disruptions in the health system caused by disasters ensuring the sustainability of sexual and reproductive health services.
