Abstract

This study examines, via interpretative phenomenological analysis, the lived experiences of instructors working with athletes with disabilities in paraclimbing, focusing on how they interpret the educational process, associated emotional experiences, and resulting professional and emotional transformations. Participants were selected using criterion sampling. Semi-structured interviews were conducted online with six instructors. Data were analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis and thematic analysis. Instructors developed deeper skills in individualizing pedagogy, building trust- and empathy-based communication, collaborating with families, and supporting athletes’ psychosocial development. They also reported questioning their professional perspectives and enhancing empathetic awareness. Paraclimbing is experienced by instructors not only as physical training but as a multi-layered interaction space involving trust, empathy, pedagogical adaptation, and ethical sensitivity. The study provides insights into the transformative impact of inclusive education on practitioners.
