Abstract

This study examined the relationships among mindfulness, perceived social support sources, and post-traumatic growth (PTG) in individuals who experienced the February 6, 2023, earthquakes in Türkiye. Data were analyzed using SPSS 27.0 through Pearson correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. The sample consisted of 172 women (65.6%) and 90 men (34.4%). Participants completed the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS), the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), and the Posttraumatic Growth Inventory (PTGI). Correlation analyses revealed that PTG was positively and significantly associated with mindfulness, perceived social support total score, and all perceived social support sources. Among the support sources, friend support showed the strongest association with PTG. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the overall model was statistically significant; however, when mindfulness, family support, friend support, and significant other support were entered simultaneously, only friend support significantly predicted PTG. These findings suggest that post-traumatic growth among earthquake survivors is associated with both individual awareness and relational support, but the source of perceived social support may play a particularly important role. The results highlight the potential value of integrating mindfulness-informed approaches with peer- and friendship-based support programs in post-disaster psychosocial interventions.
