Abstract

Today, education systems expect students not only to access information but also to become productive individuals who can use this information to solve problems and think across disciplines. In this context, the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) approach has emerged as an important instructional approach aimed at developing students’ 21st-century skills. In this study, a STEM activity supported by Web 2.0 technologies was developed, and the implementation process was presented in detail. Within the scope of the research, a STEM activity titled “Let’s Make a Trap” was designed for the middle school level. During the process, Edpuzzle was used as a Web 2.0 tool to help students prepare for the lesson; students then followed the engineering design process to create draft drawings, developed their materials to produce prototypes, and tested their products. The activity aimed to encourage students to utilize their problem-solving, collaboration, critical thinking, and scientific process skills. It is believed that the activity presented in this study will contribute to the literature by providing an example of Web 2.0-supported STEM applications and offering practical guidance for teachers.
