Abstract
This study aims to identify the trends in science education research by analyzing academic studies published in the Eğitim ve Bilim journal, which is indexed in SSCI, between 2019 and 2024 in Turkey. Conducted using the systematic literature review method, the study includes a detailed analysis of 23 articles related to science education. During the review process, the research topics, methods employed, and preferred sample groups were examined. The findings indicate that the studies predominantly focus on science teaching, STEM education, and scientific literacy. Although the number of publications did not show a consistent increase over the years, the highest number of studies was published in 2020, with a noticeable decrease in 2021, likely due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was observed that most of the articles had two authors and that middle school students—particularly seventh graders—were the most frequently selected sample group. Quantitative research methods were commonly used in the studies, with data collection tools such as questionnaires, scales, achievement tests, perception and personality tests being the most prevalent. In terms of data analysis, descriptive statistics and parametric tests were the most frequently employed techniques.
