Abstract

Aim: The aim is to know the ingredients of the most well-known and best-selling toothpastes in the market in Turkey, to compare conventional and herbal-based natural toothpastes and to reveal their differences. Materials and Methods: The most demanded toothpastes in Adıyaman markets and the best-selling toothpastes on e-commerce sites in Turkey were also studied. The study included 25 different conventional toothpastes from 5 different brands and 25 different herbal-based natural toothpastes from 14 different brands producing cosmetic products. The ingredients of the toothpastes in the study were classified, and the similarities and differences between them were evaluated. Results: A total of 159 unique toothpaste ingredients were identified in the contents of 50 different toothpastes included in the study. Conclusion: Sensitive individuals should carefully evaluate toothpaste ingredients due to similar contents and potential allergic or cytotoxic effects.
