Abstract

In this study, the post-earthquake intervention of a shopping mall in the province of Istanbul was examined with the Functional Resonance Analysis Method (FRAM) by considering the technical system, emergency plan and human actions. As a result of the analysis, a total of 64 functions were defined, including 15 main functions characterized by six aspects as input, output, prerequisite, source, control and time. How the earthquake response was done in the shopping mall, its effectiveness, response plan, human behavior, technological structure, organization and the connection between these functions, the variations that may be encountered in each function and the uncertainties arising from the nature of the earthquake were examined by FRAM visualizer computer software. Within the scope of the study, a scenario related to earthquakes intervention was produced and it was investigated how variations will affect other functions. As a result of this study, it was revealed that the variations caused by the uncertainties due to the nature of the earthquake intervention could change the process of intervention plan. It was concluded that the intervention plan should be prepared for each variable by considering all variables. One of the measures to eliminate the negative variability of the functions is determined as the automation of the technical system in the entire shopping mall. The importance of adding variability of functions such as emergency teams, senior management and employees of all companies operating in the shopping mall, shopping mall staff, automation of technical systems has also become apparent.
