Abstract

Objective: It was aimed to determine the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Reproductive Autonomy Scale for sexually active married women. Methods: The study was conducted in 183 sexually active married women between December 2022 and May 2023. In this study, content validity was determined after language validity, which is the validity and reliability steps, was ensured. Accordingly, item analysis, explanatory, confirmatory factor analysis and internal consistency coefficients were determined. Statistical significance level was taken as p<0.05. Results: It was seen that the 14-item and three sub-dimensions of the scale, namely decision making, release from pressure, and communication, were within the range of acceptable fit indices. The first four items of the scale are 3-point Likert type and the remaining 10 items are 4-point Likert type. The higher the score obtained from the scale, the higher the reproductive autonomy of women. Conclusion: In this study, the Turkish version of the Reproductive Autonomy Scale was determined to be a valid, reliable and practically applicable scale. It is recommended that women's health and diseases nurses working in the field of reproductive health evaluate women's reproductive autonomy and use this scale, which is valid and reliable.
