Abstract
In Old Turkish texts, a compound suffix was used to express the meanings of “togetherness”, “unity” and “accompaniment” in the words to which it was attached. This structure can be classified as the comitative case marker. Only three sentence examples exist in the Orkhon and Yenisei inscriptions. It was used in the texts of Manichaean Old Uyghur but later disappeared. The suffix appeared as +lXgU in the inscriptions and as +lUgUn in the Manichaean texts. This study discusses the presence, structure, and functions of the suffix in Old Turkish texts. Initially, explanations and comments by researchers on the subject are included. Subsequently, the sentences in which the suffix appears are analyzed, with a particular focus on its morphological formation and specific suffix combinations that constitute it. The functions of the suffix are then clarified with reference to sentences investigated in the study.
