Abstract

Effects of nitrogen rates on grain yield of Kunduru-1149 and Çakmak-79 durum wheat varieties were examined under fallow-wheat rotation in Central Anatolian conditions during the period of 1977-1987. The results of the experiments have shown that the effects of nitrogen on grain yield of the two varieties were varied depending on location and year. Because of that reason, economical nitrogen rates for Çakmak 79 were determined for two regions. Nitrogen-yield relationships for the first (Haymana) and second region (Malya, Gözlü) were formulated as Y= 224.4+11.73x-1.16x 2 and Y= 336.9+8.20x-0.491x 2 , respectively. Because only three year data were available, the optimum N rate for Kunduru-1149 was derived from the analysis of variance, only. For the variety of Kunduru 1149, all the locations were considered as two groups, since the number of the locations was limited. Optimum amount of nitrogens for locations having 350 mm and 400 mm precipitation were 5 kg/da N and 7 kg /da N, respectively. For the variety of Çakmak-79, economical nitrogen rates for region 1 (having 200 kg/da yield level) and region 2 (having 300-400 kg/da yield level) were determined as 4.5 kg/da N and 6.5 kg/da N, respectively.
