Abstract

Turkey’s climate is expected to change drastically under the effect of global warming. These climate changes will create important problems for agricultural activities and natural living areas of plant and animals will be changed. Water scarcities will see more often in Turkey. In the projections: rain amounts are expected to reduce drastically especially in the Aegean and Mediterranean regions of Turkey. These changes necessitate to define the effects of these on agricultural systems and to develop methods to recover from these effects especially on fruits trees which are perennial plants. Organic fruit production is done without irrigation in some parts. Strategies of organic agriculture, like using plants adapted to the ecology will become more important as the precipitation will reduce. Also land management has a great importance. From the sustainability, limited till and no-till agricultural production systems are gaining more importance. Cover crops which are used frequently in organic production systems are important practices that enriches the biodiversity in the production areas and improves the carbon binding. In areas especially where there are no irrigation possibilities, cover crops should be preferred which will not compete with fruit trees for water.
