Abstract
Mulberry (Morus spp.) is grown in the several regions of the world due to its wide range of soil and climatical adaptability. Although the berry culture since time immemorial in our country, there is a few research on this fruit. Recently, considering the rich nutrient contents of the fruit, the consumption of mulberry as jam and molasses has been increasing through the country. Artvin has microclimate areas there for has longer growing seasons for mulberry. For that reason, mulberry fruit supply to the industry extends from June to august in the region. In this study, mulberry growing potential, local types and the main problems of the mulberry culture in the Artvin province were discussed.
Özet
Farklı iklim ve toprak şartlarına adaptasyon kabiliyeti yüksek olan dut, hem ılıman hem de subtropik iklim şartlarında yetişebilen bir meyve türüdür. Ülkemizde dut kültürü çok eskilerden beri yapılmasına rağmen, bu meyve türü üzerinde yeterli bilimsel çalışma yapılamamıştır. Son yıllarda özellikle dutun içerdiği zengin besin maddeleri nedeniyle reçel ve pekmez olarak tüketimi yaygınlaşmıştır. Artvin ili mikroklima alanlara sahip olması nedeniyle dut için oldukça uzun bir vejetasyon süresine sahiptir. Bu özellik haziran ayından ağustos ayına kadar endüstriye hammadde temini için olanak sağlayabilmektedir. Bu araştırmada Artvin ilindeki dut yetiştiriciliği potansiyeli, mevcut yerel tipler ve karşılaşılan sorunlar incelenmiştir.
