Abstract

This study examines the moderating role of marital status in the relationship between work-family life conflict dimensions (family-to-work conflict and work-to-family conflict) and job satisfaction. The study employed a quantitative approach, utilizing a relational survey model. A total of 338 female academics working in two universities were included in the study, using both convenience and snowball sampling techniques. The data was collected using a personal information form, the Job Satisfaction Scale, and the Work-Family Conflict Scale. The data were analyzed using regression analysis based on the bootstrap method. The analysis was conducted using Process Macro. The findings indicate that both family-to-work conflict and work-to-family conflict, as well as marital status, negatively affected job satisfaction. Among married participants, the effect of family-to-work conflict on job satisfaction was not significant, whereas among single participants, this effect was significant. As family-to-work conflict increased, job satisfaction decreased for single academics. Marital status also played a moderating role in the relationship between work-to-family conflict and job satisfaction. For both married and single academics, higher work-to-family conflict was associated with lower job satisfaction, with this effect being more pronounced among single academics.
