Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this study is to investigate activity performance, leisure satisfaction, and social participation levels in stroke patients and to evaluate their interrelationships. Material and Methods: Individuals over 18 years old who had experienced a stroke, were able to walk independently, scored ≥24 on the Mini-Mental State Examination, and volunteered to participate were included. The demographic information of the patients was recorded. Patients' activity performance and satisfaction were measured with the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure, leisure satisfaction with the Leisure Satisfaction Scale (LSS), and social participation with the 12-item World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule II (WHODAS-II-12). Pearson Correlation Test was used to examine whether the assessment results of individuals were related to each other. Results: This study included 46 stroke patients. A significant positive correlation was found between activity performance and satisfaction scores. Activity performance was associated with psychological, relaxation, physiological, and aesthetic sub-dimensions of the LSS, while satisfaction was linked to psychological, education, social, relaxation, and aesthetic dimensions (p 0.05). Conclusion: This study highlights that assessing leisure activities in stroke patients is important for rehabilitation planning. Engaging in meaningful activities can boost leisure satisfaction, supporting a holistic approach.
