Abstract

In this study, a review study was conducted on personality traits, emotional expression and the need for social approval. Theorists who contributed to the historical development of personality traits; opinions of Gordon Allport, Henry Murray, Raymond Cattel and Hans J. Eysenck are discussed. In addition, the Five Factor Model of Robert R. McCrae and Paul T. Costa is discussed. The studies of the researchers who contributed to the emergence of the factors of the Five Factor Model are included and the factors are explained. It was also observed that there were differences of opinion on some factors. The concept of emotional expression is explained and individual differences regarding emotional expression are mentioned. Some studies on this subject are included. The concept of need for social approval is explained, and the views of researchers using different concepts on this subject are discussed. Some studies on the need for social approval are included.

Özet

Bu çalışmada kişilik özellikleri, duygusal dışavurum ve sosyal onay ihtiyacı ile ilgili derleme çalışması yapılmıştır. Kişilik özellikleri konusunun tarihsel olarak gelişimine katkıda bulunan kuramcılardan; Gordon Allport, Henry Murray, Raymond Cattel ve Hans J. Eysenck’in görüşleri ele alınmıştır. Aynı zamanda Robert R. McCrae ve Paul T. Costa’nın Beş Faktör Modeli de incelenmiştir. Beş Faktör Modeli’nin faktörleriyle ilgili katkısı bulunan araştırmacıların çalışmalarına yer verilmiş ve faktörlerin açıklamaları yapılmıştır. Diğer yandan bazı faktörler konusunda görüş ayrılıklarının olduğu da ortaya koyulmuştur. Yine bu çalışmada duygusal dışavurum kavramı açıklanmış, duygusal dışavurum konusunda bireysel farklılıklara değinilmiştir. Bu konuda yapılan bazı çalışmalara da yer verilmiştir. Çalışmada sosyal onay ihtiyacı kavramı açıklanmış, bu konuda farklı kavram kullanan araştırmacıların görüşleri ele alınmıştır. Sosyal onay ihtiyacı ile ilgili yapılan bazı çalışmalara da yer verilmiştir.
