Abstract

Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between family planning attitudes and reproductive coercion among married women. Material and Methot: This descriptive and relational research was conducted with 409 women who came to family health centers in Siirt city center. The data were collected by face-to-face interviews using the "Personal Information Form", "Family Planning Attitude Scale" and "Reproductive Coercion Scale" between August 2022 and October 2022. Data were analyzed with SPSS 22 software. Results: The mean age of the women participating in the study was 25.62±2.89 years and the mean duration of marriage was 5.13±3.15 years. The mean total score of family planning attitude scale was 117.36±16.57 and the mean total score of reproductive coercion scale was 0.60±0.86. There was a weak negative correlation between the family planning attitude scale and the reproductive coercion scale (r=-0.217, p<0.01). In addition, there is a weak negative correlation between the mean score of the society's attitude towards family planning sub-dimension scale and the mean total score of reproductive coercion (r=-0.285, p<0.01). Conclusion: As a result of this study, it was found that most women's attitudes towards family planning were negative and their perceptions of reproductive coercion were found to be low. In addition, it can be stated that women have negative family planning attitudes as reproductive coercion increases.
