Abstract

Artificial intelligence is recognized as one of the fastest-growing technologies today. The aim of this study is to examine the artificial intelligence anxiety levels of health management students studying at a public university in Istanbul. The research was designed as a descriptive and cross-sectional study, and the sample consisted of 344 students. The data were collected between December 15, 2024, and January 31, 2025, using the sociodemographic information form and the Artificial Intelligence Anxiety Scale. The Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient of the scale was found to be 0.876. Students’ anxiety levels regarding artificial intelligence were at a moderate level, with higher levels observed among female students, students aged twenty-six and above, students in upper grades, and students whose income was higher than their expenses. It was also observed that approximately 80% of the students were knowledgeable about the concept of artificial intelligence and used an AI-based application, while about 60% were aware of the use of artificial intelligence in the healthcare field. Students who used artificial intelligence applications had lower levels of anxiety. The highest source of anxiety among students was related to the potential misuse of artificial intelligence. It is recommended to integrate courses and practical activities related to artificial intelligence into the health management curriculum, to ensure that students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical experience, and to increase laboratories, simulations, and workshops that allow students to gain direct experience with artificial intelligence-based applications.
