Abstract

Space is more than merely a physical background; it is the carrier of human experiences, emotions and collective memory. This study aims to examine how spatial traumas are represented through architecture and how they gain meaning through the concepts of silence, void and memory. The study includes the evaluation of four basic trauma typologies (physical destruction, socio-cultural trauma, political-ideological intervention and functional vacancy) through their spatial representations through examples selected from different geographical contexts. In this qualitative study, conceptual analysis and case study methods were employed in combination. The analysis was conducted through the stages of conceptual coding, contextual reading, and comparative matching. The research findings reveal that architecture transcends the threshold of simple physical intervention; it becomes a symbolic tool that witnesses trauma, reconstructs memory, and transforms silence into a representational strategy.
