Abstract

It is essential to investigate the effect of the career competence of financial advisor trainees on career satisfaction and to examine the regulatory role of professional burnout levels of professional members who are at the beginning of their careers in this regard. In line with this importance, this study aims to examine the effect of career competence of financial advisor trainees on career satisfaction and the moderating role of professional burnout in this relationship. In this context, the survey form was delivered to the financial advisor trainees actively working in Turkey based on a convenience sampling method, and research data were obtained from 202 financial advisor trainees through a questionnaire. The SPSS 21 package program was used for correlation and regression analyses in the data analysis. In addition, the PROCESS macro (v4.2) extension was used for moderating effect analysis. The findings revealed that career competence positively and significantly affects career satisfaction. In addition, career self-efficacy, insight, and career planning, which are the sub-dimensions of career competence, were also found to significantly predict career satisfaction. However, occupational burnout did not have a moderating effect on this relationship. The results suggest that increasing individuals’ career competence can strengthen career satisfaction.
