Abstract

Technology, like every other field, also influences education. The purpose of the study is to examine studies involving the use of digital storytelling in science education through document review. In the research, studies related to the use of digital stories in science education in Turkey between 2014-2021 were examined using content analysis method with the theses and articles obtained from YÖK Thesis, Google Scholar, and ERIC. Relevant codes, themes, and explanations were generated based on the document analysis. In addition, the "Article Classification Form" developed by Sözbilir, Kutu, and Yaşar (2012) was used in the study, and the theses and articles were classified through the form. The most commonly used data collection tool in the examined theses and articles is determined to be interviews. In the examined theses, the sample consists of middle school students, while in the articles, teacher candidates constitute the sample. The most commonly used research method in the examined theses is the mixed method, while in the articles, it is the qualitative research method. At the end of the study, it was statistically observed that the use of digital storytelling in science education is quite low. With this study, it is believed that increasing the use of digital storytelling in science education, strengthening the connection between science education and digital storytelling, and conducting various studies in science education with digital stories will contribute to the field.
