Abstract

"Experiments on the transmission of Babesia motasi to sheep by the tick Rhipicephalus bursa" A. total of 3 female sheep and 6 rabbits were used this experiment. Two sheep were splenectomised at last 20 days before use and their freedom infection were ascertained by means of blood smears. The present work on transmission of B. motasi by R.bursa showed that infection could be transmitted only in the adult stage of the tich. In splenectomised sheep parasitemia occurred 10-11 days after infected ticks started to feed and were accompanied by a mild fever The babesia spp. have been detected in the adult ticks and the eggs.
