Abstract

This study attempts to analyse how certain attitudes and behaviours exhibited by prospective teachers play a role in the emergence of power sources used by instructors in the teaching process. The study population consists of approximately 440 prospective teachers studying in the 2nd and 3rd years of the Faculty of Education at Manisa Celal Bayar University during the 2025-2026 academic year. The sample consisted of 206 prospective teachers selected using a stratified sampling method based on class and gender, followed by a random sampling method, with a 95% confidence level and a 5% margin of error. Data were collected using the Types of Power Used by Instructors Scale, the Academic Anxiety Scale, and the Academic Jealousy Scale. Data analysis was performed using the SPSS 25 software package. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to determine the extent to which the attitudes and behaviours exhibited by prospective teachers predict the types of power used by instructors. The results show that cognitive and emotional anxiety attitudes and academic jealousy behaviours exhibited by prospective teachers are predictors of the power sources used by faculty members in various ways.
