Abstract

Namık Kemal comes at the beginning of Turkish Literature’s the most importantcharacters after the Tanzimat. Sevaral works are published about Namık Kemalwho wrote up important works in the fields of not only literature but also historyand politics. ‘Merhûm Nâmık Kemâl Bey’ is one of these works. This work,also printed with the names of ‘Kemâl Bey’in Terceme-i Hali’ and ‘Kemâl’,is published immediately after namık Kemal’s death. ‘Merhûm Nâmık Kemâl’written by Ebuzziya Mehmed Tevfik (1849-1913) in 1888, the date that NamıkKemal passed away, is a small biographical work. Ebuzziya Tevfik, a studentand friend of Namık Kemal, examines Namık Kemal’s short but moving lifeat certain turning points. This work, giving important clues about the view andart life of Namık Kemal, is an important analysing on behalf of recognitionof Namık Kemal. In this article, the content analysis is made on the work of‘Merhûm Nâmık Kemâl Bey’. Also by translating the work into Latin characters,it’s presented to today’s readers.
