Since 1900, more than 30 different open techniques with 9 different approaches have been described for the fusion of the tibio-talar joint. it was reported around 60% complication rates, 20% nonunion and 5-25% infection rates with these techniques. Ancak tüm bu tekniklerle beraber %60'ları bulan komplikasyon oranları ve ortalama olarak %20 oranında kaynamama, %5 ile 25 arasında değişen enfeksiyon oranları bildirilmektedir, ancak son yıllarda Morgan ve arkadaşlarının geliştirdiği açık teknik ile birleştirilen artroskopik tibio-talar artrodez giderek popülarite kazanmaktadır (4).
