Abstract

Scientific interest in the field of phraseology within global linguistics has gained significant momentum, particularly since the beginning of the 20th century. Phraseological units play a strategic role in communicative processes, not only by facilitating the transfer of information but also by constructing emotional layers and narrative depth. In this context, the analysis of the cognitive, cultural, and pragmatic functions of these units, which extend beyond their morphological and lexicological dimensions, represents a major academic priority. Theoretical approaches and methodological preferences toward phraseology exhibit distinct differences across various schools of thought. Within European linguistic circles, phraseology is addressed through a rich theoretical framework that is structuralist, cognitive, and corpus-based. In the United States, while the discipline was long regarded as a peripheral research area, the rise of cognitive linguistics and the widespread adoption of corpus-based methods have propelled phraseological research to a central position in recent years. Phraseology has become institutionalized as a standalone discipline since the 1940s. Pioneering studies in this field initially focused on the classification of formulaic structures and the establishment of a uniform terminological system. Although phraseography, the applied field of the discipline, and the multidimensional analysis of phraseological units gained momentum during the same period, a theoretical gap remained regarding the lexicographic representation and descriptive standards of these units. This gap necessitates more systematic and contemporary research within the field of phraseography. This article focuses on the problems regarding the lexicographic interpretation and lexicographical representation of dialectal phraseological units in Uzbek Turkic. Within this framework, the semantic structures of dialect-specific phraseologisms, their dynamic relationship with the standard literary language, and models for their lexicographical description are analyzed. The ontological connection between these dialectal units, which serve as unique reflections of oral culture, and collective memory and national identity is emphasized. Furthermore, this study methodologically elucidates the stages of data collection, systematization, and categorization, which are vital for integrating phraseological units into lexicographical processes. In lexicographic analysis, the phenomenon of variation and the characteristics of contextual usage play a central role. One of the primary objectives of this research is to open a scholarly debate on enriching the expressive potential and vocabulary of the national language through the adaptation of this rich dialectal heritage into the literary language.
