Abstract
The Tunceli region constitutes one of the most unique folk music centers in Anatolia with its distinct belief system and sociocultural texture. This study aims to analyze the ontological bond that folk music of the Tunceli region establishes with the Alevi faith and the effects of this bond on ethical values, concrete behavior patterns and the construction of collective identity. By addressing the social functions of folk music developed in connection with the Alevi faith within a psycho-social framework, the research seeks to determine its role in the preservation of oral cultural heritage. A qualitative research method was adopted in the study; data were collected through the semi-structured interview technique conducted within the scope of field research. The information obtained was analyzed through descriptive analysis and divided into thematic categories; musical practices were examined in light of cultural psychology and sociological data. As a result of the research, it has been determined that the folk music of the Tunceli region forms an inseparable integrity with the Alevi belief system and plays an undeniable role in the construction of social memory. Music has been identified as a "disciplining" power that directs the individual toward moral virtues, a "protest" language developed against social injustices and a psycho-social mechanism that heals the traumas of the past. Furthermore, it has been observed that gender equality shaped around the concept of "Can" is embodied by the equal participation of women and men in every field, from Cem ceremonies to festivals. It has been determined that the dominance of women in lamenting and the representation of men in the tradition of minstrelsy in the region present a complementary integrity. The findings prove that Tunceli folk music, in addition to having an aesthetic, artistic and religious discourse, is a fundamental tool that increases social resilience, carries ethical codes to the future and ensures the construction of identity. In conclusion, this musical tradition, which heals the pains of the past and carries the ethical codes of the future, reflects a worldview in which sociocultural values and norms shaping the behavior of individuals and society are integrated with faith. Therefore, it should be emphasized that the disciplining, protest and communicative roles of music are a fundamental psycho-social discourse that increases the emotional resilience of the Tunceli people based on the Alevi faith and ensures social integration.
