Abstract

This study is a relational design study aiming to determine the mediating role of self-efficacy and the moderating role of leader-member exchange in the relationship between school principals' learning-centred leadership behaviours and teachers' instructional practices. The sample of the study consisted of a total of 503 teachers working in Tokat. Stratified sampling method was used to determine the sample. Personal Information Form, Learning Centred Leadership, Teacher Instructional Practices, Leader-Member Exchange and Teacher Self-Efficacy Scales were used to collect the data. The factor structures confirmed in confirmatory factor analysis were positioned as latent measures in structural equation modelling. In the analysis phase of the findings, Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient was used to determine binary relationships and structural equation modelling was used to determine direct and indirect predictors. When the results were analysed, it was seen that there were positive and significant empirical relationships between all binary variables in the model. In addition, path analysis revealed that both the mediating role of self-efficacy and the direct regulatory role of leader-member exchange on teachers' self-efficacy and indirect regulatory role on instructional practices were significant. The results obtained were discussed in comparison with similar studies in the literature and some suggestions were made.
