Abstract

This study examined the opinions of teachers and parents on the issue of scolionophobia among preschool children. The study was conducted during the 2009-2010 academic years and the study group comprised 50 preschool teachers and 120 parents from Kastomonu city center. Two different tools, (a) Personal Information Form and (b) Interview Form were used to gather data. In the scope of the present study, descriptive analysis” -one of the qualitative research methods- was used and the percentage of the answers given by teachers and parents were expressed and interpreted in numerical terms. Analysis of the data showed that the main reason for the examples of scolionophobia seen in the preschool period was unwillingness to be separated from the mother. It was also found that teachers used some strategies to help the child overcome this fear, such as affectionate behavior, talking to the children and arranging entertaining activities.

Özet

Bu araştırma, okul öncesi öğretmenlerinin ve ebeveynlerin, okul öncesi dönemdeki çocukların okul korkularına ilişkin görüşlerinin belirlenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, 2009–2010 eğitim-öğretim yılında Kastamonu il merkezinde bulunan 50 okul öncesi öğretmeni ve 120 ebeveyn oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada bilgi toplamak için; (a) Kişisel Bilgi Formu (b) Görüşme Formu kullanılmıştır.
