Abstract
Since the 1980s, globalization has led to a new world order and today the concept of globalization has become the buzzword in the fields of social sciences, education, and management. It has exhibited a monolithic order on the one hand and diversity on the other. Today, globalization is accepted as an umbrella phenomenon for the universality of democratic concepts and rules, universal human rights, liberalism and ecological problems. For this reason, globalization has led to certain outcomes in many different aspects of political, social, and economic areas. By reviewing the current literature, this study explores the concept of globalization in relation to sport education in Turkey and Bologna process. In that regards, this article surveys two interrelated research questions; "What are the reflections of globalization on sport sciences in higher education institutions of Turkey?" and "Is the field of sport sciences in Turkey aware of the globalization's implications and effects?" Accordingly, changes and problems are discussed in Turkey's sport sciences within the process of globalization and a couple of conclusions are stated; Sport sciences in Turkey needs a structural transformation. Universities that fulfill the criteria of establishing "Sport Sciences Faculty" should initiate the necessary legal processes. Faculty members in the field should further involve in international venues and cooperate with scholars outside of Turkey in order to enhance their professional and academic capabilities. Organizations of sport education should complete their infrastructures and further institutionalize toward "Sport Sciences Institute" in the field of graduate education. New departments of sport sciences should be established if Turkey shows insufficiency in the field. Overall, some departments in the field of sport sciences encounter certain problems in terms of international recognition, fulfilling the needs of the field, and anxiety regarding their future. For this reason the Thematic Network Project of AEHESIS (Aligning a European Higher Educational Structure In Sport Science) should be seriously discussed by decision makers and scholars of sport sciences in Turkey.

Küreselleşme, 1980'li yıllardan sonra yeni bir dünya düzenini ortaya çıkarmış ve bugün yönetim, eğitim ve sosyal bilimler alanlarında temel kavramlardan biri haline gelmiştir. Bir taraftan tek düzeni, diğer taraftan da çeşitliliği ortaya koymuştur. Günümüzde küreselleşme, demokratik kavramların ve kuralların evrenselliği, evrensel insan hakları, liberalizm, ekolojik sorunlar gibi kavramların bütünü olarak kabul edilmektedir. Bu sebeple birçok alanda (siyaset, sosyal ve ekonomi gibi) belirgin sonuçlar ortaya çıkarmıştır. Bu çalışmada konuyla ilgili güncel literatür çerçevesinde, küreselleşme kavramı, yükseköğretim kurumlarında eğitim, Bologna Süreci ve Türkiye'de spor eğitiminin mevcut durumu ele alınmıştır. Bu kapsamda, "Küreselleşmenin Türkiye'de yükseköğretimde spor bilimleri üzerine yansımaları nedir?", "Türkiye'de spor bilimleri küreselleşmenin belirgin sonuçlarının farkında mı?" gibi sorulara cevap aranmaya çalışılmıştır. Sonuç olarak, küreselleşme sürecinde Türkiye'de yükseköğretim düzeyinde spor eğitiminde yapılan dönüşümler ve problemler tartışılmış ve şu sonuçlara ulaşılmıştır. Türkiye'de spor bilimlerinin bir yapısal dönüşüm ihtiyacı içerisinde olduğu görülmektedir. "Spor Bilimleri Fakültesi" olma yolunda gerekli kriterleri sağlayan üniversiteler (akademik birimler) gerekli yasal süreci başlatmalıdır. Akademik personelin uluslararası alana açılması ve bilimsel açıdan daha donanımlı olması açısından yurtdışındaki öğretim elemanlarıyla işbirliğine gitmesi gerekmektedir. Spor eğitimi kurumları alt yapı çalışmalarını tamamlayıp lisansüstü alanda "Spor Bilimleri Enstitüsü" bünyesinde kurumsallaşması gerekmektedir. Yeni spor bilimleri bölümlerinin kurulması; Türkiye'nin bu kapsamda ihtiyacının olup olmadığı sorgulanmalıdır. Spor bilimlerinde yer alan bazı bölümler uluslararası alanda tanınma anlamında, sektörde ihtiyaca cevap verip/vermeme, gelecek kaygısı gibi başlıklarda problem teşkil etmektedir. Bu kapsamda, Yükseköğretiminde Uyumlaştırma) Tematik Ağ Projesi'nin sonuçları Türkiye'de spor bilimcileri ve karar vericiler tarafından tartışılmalıdır.
