Abstract

− This Furniture is one of the essential products that influence, shape, and enhance the quality of human life in every living environment. It is important not only because it meets functional needs but also because it reflects individuals’ lifestyles, aesthetic perceptions, and cultural identities. In this context, the furniture industry holds a significant position worldwide. It is a dynamic sector in which products are constantly evolving and being renewed, leading to continuous changes in consumer preferences. Various factors influence consumers’ decisions when purchasing furniture, such as their lifestyles, economic conditions, tastes and preferences, and cultural backgrounds, as well as product-related elements including brand, price, quality, design, and post-purchase services. This study aims to determine the attitudes and influencing factors in furniture purchasing behavior among foreigners residing in Turkey. The research included consumers who had purchased furniture within the last five years. Data were collected through a questionnaire and analyzed using the SPSS 20 program. The findings revealed that living room and bedroom furniture were the most commonly purchased items. In brand preference, price, quality, comfort, and reliability were identified as key factors. In-store purchasing was found to be more influential than online shopping. The most common post-purchase problem reported was delayed delivery and the inability to test furniture (such as sitting, reclining, or checking drawers) during purchase. Additionally, quality, color, form, aesthetic features, price, and brand were among the most influential factors in the purchasing decision. Consumers also emphasized that they prefer long-lasting and durable furniture.
