Abstract
As a result of rapid increase in knowledge generation in recent decades, individuals are required to obtain, manipulate, apply and even contribute knowledge generation by employing higher order thinking skills. As a respond to the recent changes, educational systems should contribute to this reformation by supporting students to gain higher order thinking skills. In this study, reflective thinking and its implications for teaching and learning were examined by compiling related literature. Özet
Bilginin hızla arttığı günümüzde bireylerden bilgiye ulaşma yollarını bilmeleri ve ileri düzey düşünme becerilerine sahip olmaları beklenmektedir. Bu amaçla eğitim sistemi çağın gereklerine uygun olarak öğrencileri geliştirecek şekilde yapılanma gerçekleştirir. Yürürlükte olan öğretim programları da bunu destekler bir anlayışa sahiptir. Bu çalışmada öğretmen, öğretmen adayları ve araştırmacılara rehberlik etmesi amacıyla ileri düzey düşünme becerilerinden biri olan yansıtıcı düşünme ve yansıtıcı düşünme becerilerinin geliştirilmesine yönelik faydalı ve pratik bir derleme yapılması amaçlanmıştır. Ayrıca örnek teşkil etmesi amacıyla 8. sınıf fen bilgisi dersinde uygulanabilecek bir etkinlik örneğine yer verilmiştir
