Abstract

\r\n One of the poets whose pseudonyms (mahlas) was confused with other poets' in the classical biographic sourches (tezkires) is Câmî-i Mısrî. Except the disordered/unclassified informations in the Tezkires, the most reliable source on his life is Sa'âdetnâme which is the translation of the Ravzatü'ş-Şühedâ. There is also some complementary information on him in Sehernâme which was written by his son Kelâmî who lived in Egypt and worked as a clerk (kâtip) like his father. It is understood from these information that he was from the military class (sipahî oğlanları) and during a plague epidemic his four sons were died; after this he was appointed with reconstructing the Ka'be which was damaged at that time and after finished this job and returned back in the 960/1552-53 wrote his Sa'âdetnâme. This work which was extented with pieces of poems manzume) is placed among the most successful translations of the Ravzatü'-Şühedâ.\r\n
