Abstract
This study aims to examine the relationship between pre-service teachers' altruistic behaviors and their attitudes toward the teaching profession. In this study, in which the relational screening model was adopted, the data were collected from 542 pre-service teachers studying in the 3rd and 4th grades in the 2019-2020 spring semester at Balıkesir University Necatibey Faculty of Education. The "Altitude Scale" developed by Ümmet, Ekşi and Otrar (2013), the "Attitude Scale towards the Teaching Profession" developed by Üstüner (2006) and the "Personal Information Questionnaire" developed by the researcher were used as data collection tools in this research. In the data analysis, the t-test, Mann-Whitney U test, one-way analysis of variance, Kruskal-Wallis test, Pearson correlation analysis, multiple linear regression analysis and structural equation modeling were used. The findings showed that the attitudes of the teacher candidates toward the teaching profession and their altruism levels were close to high. There was a weak positive relationship between the altruism levels of the candidates and their attitudes toward the teaching profession. In addition, pre-service teachers' altruism levels and demographic variables had a weak degree of influence on attitudes toward the teaching profession. A high level of relationship between the variables in question was an expected result when the nature of the variables and the related theoretical structure were considered. Özet
Bu araştırmanın amacı, öğretmen adaylarının özgecilik düzeyleri, öğretmenlik mesleğine yönelik tutumları ve öğretme motivasyonları arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesidir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu Balıkesir Üniversitesi Necatibey Eğitim Fakültesinde 2019-2020 Bahar yarıyılında 3. ve 4. sınıflarda öğrenim gören 542 öğretmen adayı oluşturmuştur. Araştırma modeli olarak ilişkisel tarama modeli benimsenmiştir. Amaçlanan ilişkileri ortaya koymak amacıyla Ümmet, Ekşi ve Otrar (2013) tarafından doktora tezi kapsamında geliştirilen “Özgecilik Ölçeği”, Kauffman, Soylu ve Duke (2011) tarafından geliştirilen ve Türkçeye uyarlama çalışması Güzel-Candan ve Gencel (2015) tarafından gerçekleştirilen “Öğretme Motivasyonu Ölçeği” ve Üstüner (2006) tarafından geliştirilen “Öğretmenlik Mesleğine Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği” ile araştırmacı tarafından katılımcıların demografik özelliklerini belirlemek için geliştirilen “Kişisel Bilgiler Anketi” kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada kullanılan ölçeklerin geçerlikleri ve güvenirlikleri yapılan faktör ve güvenirlik analizleriyle ortaya konmuştur. Araştırma sonucunda öğretmen adaylarının özgecilik, öğretmenlik mesleğine yönelik tutum ve öğretme motivasyonu düzeylerinin yüksek düzeye yakın olduğu görülmüştür. Araştırmada elde edilen diğer bulgulara göre, öğretmen adaylarının özgecilik düzeyleri ile öğretmenlik mesleğine yönelik tutumları ve özgecilik düzeyleri ile öğretme motivasyonları arasında pozitif yönlü zayıf; öğretmenlik mesleğine yönelik tutumları ile öğretme motivasyonları arasında pozitif yönlü orta düzeyde ilişki tespit edilmiştir. Bunun yanı sıra öğretmen adaylarının özgecilik düzeyleri ve demografik değişkenlerin; öğretmenlik mesleğine yönelik tutumlarına zayıf dereceli, öğretme motivasyonlarına ise çok zayıf dereceli etkisinin olduğu saptanmıştır
