ellikle Althusser, Rosa Luxemburg ve Frankfurt Okulu kaynaklı çalışmalarda Antonio Gramsci’nin isminden sıklıkla söz edildiği bilinmektedir. Avrupa Solu’nun, kendisini Gramsci üzerinden meşrulaştırmaya çalıştığı söylenebilir. Daha sonra gündeme gelen radikal demokrasi tartışmalarında da Gramsci sıklıkla tartışılan bir kaynak olmayı sürdürdü.
