Özet
Amaç: Bu çalışmada karpal tünel sendromu (KTS) tedavisinin değerlendirilmesinde kullanılan "Boston Skalası"(BS) skorlama sisteminin kullanılabilirliği değeriendirildi. Çalışma planı: Kliniğimizde KTS tanısıyla açık cerrahi il; nöroliz uygulanan 34 hastaya ameliyat öncesinde ve ameliyat sonrasinda kontrole gelen 15'ine BS uygulandı. Takipleri yapılabilen hastaların 12'si kadın, üçü erkekli (ort. Yaş 50.7; dağılım 18-65). Ortalama takip süresi 17.4 ay (dağılım 3-28 ay) idi. Sonuçlar; Son kontrollerde, ortalama semptom şiddetiskoru ameliyat öncesi 3.6'dan l.2'ye, fonksiyonel kapasite skoru ise 3.3'ten 1.3'e düştü (q<0.000) Çıkarımlar: Hem semptomatik hem de fonksiyonel durumu dikkate alan Boston Skalasi'nın KTS tedavisinin sonuçlarım değerlendirmede faydalı olduğu düşüncesindeyiz.
Abstract
Objectives: This study was designed to evaluate the use of the Boston Questionnaire, a functional and symptomatic scoring system, in the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). Methods: The Boston Questionnaire was administered to patients who underwent surgery for CTS. Preoperatively 34 patients and postoperatively 15 patients (12 females, 3 males; mean age 50.7 years; range 18 to 65 years) were evaluated. The mean follow-up was 17.4 months (range 3 to 28 months). Results: The mean scores on symptom severity (from 3.6 to 1.2) and functional capacity (from 3.3 to 1.3) showed significant decreases postoperatively (p<0.0001). Conclusion: The Boston Questionnaire seems to be a valuable tool in the evaluation of symptomatic and functional conditions of patients in CTS treatment.
