Özet
Kur'ân-ı Kerim'de çevresinin mübarek kılındığı ifade edilen Mescidi Aksâ, Hz. Peygamber'in hadislerine göre Mescid-i Haram'dan sonra yeryüzünde inşa edilen ikinci mescit ve Mescid-i Haram ile Mescid-i Nebevî'den sonra ibadet maksadı ile ziyaret edilebilecek üçüncü mescittir. Binaenaleyh Mescid-i Aksâ yeryüzündeki üç büyük mescidden biridir.
Abstract
It had been stated in the Holy Quran that the surroundings of AlAqsa Mosque (Al-Masjid al-Aqsa) was blessed. According to hadiths (sayings) of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), it is the second built mosque on earth following the Masjid Al-Haram (Great Mosque of Mecca or The Kaaba). Besides, it is the third mosque which is worth visiting for the purpose of worship, after the Masjid Al-Haram and Al-Masjid anNabawi (the Prophet's mosque in Madinah). Therefore, it is one of the three greatest mosques on earth. This holy temple can be considered as the symbol of Tawhid (oneness or unity of Allah) because it had witnessed to the tawhid struggles of many prophets, as a center of civilizations because of its important contributions to world civilization through the accumulation of knowledge and experience emerged on its surroundings. At the same time, it can be characterized as the legacy of prophets; as it had been built by many prophets and used as a place of worship. It has been known and accepted by almost everybody that the said mosque exists on the territory of Al-Quds (Jerusalem). Because verses from the Quran, sayings of the Prophet (PBUH) and historical narrations imply or indicate this fact. Moreover, this truth has been also conveyed from generation to generation with a strong chain of narrations through tidings and knowledge. However, different views and claims have been asserted nowadays, stating that "in the times of the Prophet (PBUH) there had not been a mosque in Jerusalem and thus, the said mosque should be searched elsewhere." This study will investigate the background of those views and claims, will make some evaluations on the claim whether Al-Aqsa Mosque had taken place in Jerusalem in the times of the Prophet (PBUH), which bears a great importance not only for the Islamic world but also for Jews and Christians. Then the findings will be offered to the attention of researchers and readers
