KENTSEL PEYZAJ TASARIMI AÇISINDAN TARİHİ KAYSERİ KENT MEYDANININ (CUMHURİYET MEYDANININ) İRDELENMESİ

INVESTIGATION OF KAYSERİ HISTORICAL URBAN SQUARE (CUMHURIYET SQUARE) IN TERMS OF URBAN LANDSCAPE DESIGN

Özet

Meydanlar, tarihi boyunca insanların fiziksel, kültürel ve sosyal yönden birçok aktivite de bulunabildiği açık mekânlar olarak tanımlanabilir. Kentin kültürünü yansıtan ve geçmişle bugün arasında bağlantı kuran bu açık mekânlar sahip oldukları fiziksel, estetik ve sosyo-psikolojik özellikleri ile kentin kimliğini yansıtırlar. Meydanlar ilk kentsel açık alanlar olup geçmiş ile bugün arasında bağ kuran alanlardır. Tarihi kent meydanları, bulunduğu kent ve kentin tarihi ile özdeşleşmiş kamusal açık alanlardır. Bu çalışmada ilk olarak Cumhuriyet meydanının tarihi süreçteki oluşumu, değişimi ve gelişimi incelenmiştir. Daha sonra Kayseri kent merkezinde yer alan ve yoğun kullanım potansiyeline sahip Tarihi Cumhuriyet Meydanı, belirlenen peyzaj tasarım ilkeleri çerçevesinde irdelenmiş ve öneriler getirilmiştir.

Abstract

Squares can be defined as open spaces where people can carry out many physical, cultural and social activities throughout history. These open spaces, which reflect the culture of the city and connect between the past and the present, can reflect identities of the cities regarding to their physical, aesthetic and socio-psychological properties. The squares are the first urban open spaces which connect between past and the present. Historical city squares are public open spaces which identify with the city and city's history. In this study, firstly, was adressed the formation, change and development of Cumhuriyet square during the historical period. Then, the Historic Republic Square, which located in Kayseri city center with a potential for intensive use, have been analyzed in terms of determined landscape design principles and some suggestions were proposed.
