Turizmde Global Etik İlkelerin Uygulanma Düzeyleri: İskenderun Teknik Üniversitesi Örneği

Özet
Kültürel, ekonomik ve sosyal alanlarda yaşanan değişimler ile teknolojinin hızlı ve sürekli gelişimi ülkeler arasındaki ekonomik sınırları ortadan kaldırmıştır. Bu durumun bir sonucu olarak; üretim faktörleri, turizm, eğitim, teknoloji, toplum ve daha birçok alan sınır ötesi bir özellik kazanmıştır. Bununla birlikte, bireyler arası etkileşimin gün geçtikçe arttığı dünyada, insan gibi yaşamanın zorunluluğu olan ve bulunduğumuz çağda oldukça önemsenen etik kavramı hayatımıza daha çok girmektedir. Dünya Turizm Örgütü, turizmin topluma ve çevreye olumsuz etkilerini azaltarak, dünya turizminin sorumlu ve sürdürülebilir gelişimini bir dizi ilkeye bağlamak amacı ile, 1 Ekim 1999 tarihinde, 10 bölüm 48 madde şeklinde hazırlanmış Turizmde Global Etik İlkeler Bildirgesi’ni kabul etmiştir. Bu araştırmanın amacı; İskenderun Teknik Üniversitesinde Turizm ve Otel İşletmeciliği ile Seyahat İşletmeciliği bölümlerinde lisans düzeyinde eğitim alan öğrencilerin bakış açısı ile, turizm sektöründe global etik ilkelerinin ne derece uygulandığını algılamalarını ortaya koymaktır. Ayrıca geleceğin turizm yöneticileri olan öğrenciler için, turizmde global etik ilkelerin daha bilinir hale gelmesini sağlamaktır. Araştırma amacı doğrultusunda, verilerin elde edilmesinde yüz yüze anket yöntemi kullanılmış olup, örnekleme yöntemi olarak kolayda örnekleme yöntemi tercih edilmiştir. Elde edilen analiz sonuçlarına göre; öğrencilerin %58,6’sı turizmde global etik ilkelerini daha önce hiç duymamıştır. Öğrencilerin, turizm sektöründe en iyi şekilde uygulandığını düşündükleri ilke; “Turizm hareketinde özgürlük” ilkesidir. “Turizm sektöründe çalışanların ve girişimcilerin Hakları” ilkesiyle yaş değişkeni arasında anlamlı farklılıklar olduğu görülmüştür. “Ülke ve toplumların refahını arttıran bir faaliyet olarak turizm” ve “Turizm sektöründe çalışanların ve girişimcilerin hakları” ilkeleriyle turizmde global etik ilkeleri daha önceden duyup duymama değişkeni arasında anlamlı farklılıklar olduğu bulgusuna ulaşılmıştır.
Abstract
The changes in cultural, economic and social spheres and the rapid and continuous development of technology have eliminated the economic boundaries between countries. As a result of thissituation, production factors tourism education technology society and many other areas have acquired a cross-border feature. In addition, the concept of ethics, which has the necessity of living like a human in the world where interactions between individuals is increasing day by day and which is quite important in our age, enters more in our lives. The World Tourism Organization adopted the Global Code of Ethics in Tourism on 1 October 1999, 10 sections, to reduce the negative impact of tourism on society and the environment, and to link the responsible and sustainable development of world tourism to a set of principles. The aim of this study is to reveal the perception of the application of global ethical principles in tourism sector with the point of view of the undergraduate students in Tourism and Hotel Management and global ethical principles more known in tourism for students who are tourism managers of the future. In order to obtain the data, face-to-face survey method was used in order to obtain the data, and sampling method was preferred as a sampling method. According to the results of the analysis, 58.6% of the students have never heard of global ethical principles in tourism. The principle of freedom in the tourism movement is the principle that students think best in the tourism sector. It was seen that there were significant differences between the rights of employees and entrepreneurs in tourism sector and age variable. As an activity that enhances the welfare of countries and societies, it has been found that there are significant differences between the principles of the rights of employees and entrepreneurs in tourism and tourism sector and the variables of previously heard and not heard of global ethical principles in tourism.
