Abstract
In bilingualism, it is seen as a natural process that a language affects the other language phonically, lexically, grammatically and prosodically. Intense exposure to the language and the frequency of use of this language due to the living environment can also affect the transfer between the two languages. In this study, data obtained from third generation speakers of Turkish, a heritage language, living in Germany were used. According to their age levels, the data of a total of 64 participants, including 22 women, 8 men in the adult category and 21 women and 13 men in the youth category, were analyzed. In addition, data from 16 native speakers were included in the analysis to compare places of pauses and positional emphasis. The sound recordings of the participants narrating an event in Turkish formally and informally were analyzed. The sound recordings were subjected to two separate evaluations, phonetically and prosodically. Phonetically, the most distinctive tendency of differentiation was seen in the sounds "a, e, o, r, k, t, ş, ç, n". As a result of the prosodic analysis, the loss of the melody of the language, the multiplicity of repetitions and pauses, articulation errors, false syllable stress, nonfinite pronunciation in finite sentences, intonation ambiguities, and positional emphasis differences of conjunction and discourse markers were determined.
